Discovering Salland with the tips of Karin and Lynn

Not only our reception, but the Hellendoorn Tourist Office too, is a reliable address for outing tips in the area. This time, we present the stage to the marketing promotion departnemt of the Hellendoorn Tourist Agency. Karin Kolkman and intern Lynn Nijboer offer their suggestions.

What does an ideal vacation day in this region look like?
Karin: What's special about this region to me is the beautiful differences in scenery: forests, heathlands, drifting sand, hills, but water as well. We combine these differences, First we take our friends and all of the kids to the play forest. Next, a day camping at the Holterberg for a picnic. After a boat trip on the Regge, we end the day with the delicious pancakes of De Hooischuur in Nijverdal."

Lynn: "To me, Salland means space, friendliness and a sense of community between inhabitants. This is what makes it a pleasant place to be. On my ideal day, I explore the Salland Ridge on horseback during the day. Afterwards I rent a BBQ-boat or whisper boat to go for a trip on the Regge. And if I have any energy left, I go bowling, go-karting or for a game of pool!"

What can a holiday in Salland definitely nog go without?
Karin: "The Salland Ridge, of course. Highly recommended for visitors of all ages: children can play and romp around in the Play Forest, adults can go for a bicycle or hiking trip among the beautiful scenery. A convenient point of departure is the Outdoor Center, including the observatory you can find there which is open to visitors on Friday night and Saturday afternoon."

Lynn: "And in addition to the Salland Ridge, there are many fun events to enjoy, like Stoppelhaene, Ribs &Blues, StrongmanRun en Dauwpop. The Memory war and peace museum is a must see and the craft of clog making can still be seen at the Dijkman clog workshop. For families with children, Adventure Park Hellendoorn is an amazing day out."
