De Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park is a stunning nature reserve known for its unique landscape of purple heathlands and dense forests. It’s an oasis of tranquility where you can enjoy fantastic hikes; starting points like the Buitencentrum in Nijverdal offer countless routes, ranging from short family walks to challenging hikes up the Holterberg. Along the way, you’ll enjoy sweeping views and, with a bit of luck, spot some black grouse. While those seeking peace and nature lovers thrive here, there’s no shortage of action either: the challenging elevation changes make the area a magnet for mountain bikers seeking out the designated single-track trails.

We absolutely loved our stay at Hof van Salland! It’s the perfect place to unwind, but also to explore the surrounding area. We particularly loved the sauna and sunshower in the cottage, which really gave us that ultimate feeling of luxury. And to round things off, we enjoyed a fondue delivered to our door. In short, we highly recommend it! We’ll definitely be back!

We kicked off the weekend with a barbecue and plenty of games of Qwixx. On Saturday morning, we were relaxing in the sauna (what a luxury to have one in a holiday cottage!). If you’re still looking for a lovely place to stay with friends or family, we’d definitely recommend Hof van Salland and this region!

We had such a lovely time. Every morning during the luxurious breakfast (highly recommended), we had a little visitor: a squirrel. We also had a delicious meal at De Hazelaer restaurant; the staff there were so child-friendly, and our little girl had a brilliant time.
