Walking in Salland

Salland is known for its beautiful and varied nature, where it's beautiful to walk. Stroll along endless heaths, discovering fresh green forests and tracking through meadows and grasslands. At de Lemelerberg and in National Park de Sallandse Heuvelrug with, among other things, the Eelerberg, Hellendoornse Berg and Holterberg you'll find numerous varied walking routes. Walking on a wheelchair path? Walking with children? Walking with information on the way? Walking through unspoiled nature? From Hof van Salland you can discover all the beautiful things in the neighborhood within walking distance!

 

Visitor Centers National Park de Sallandse Heuvelrug

At the visitor centers you'll learn all kind of facts about the Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park. Extra activities are regularly held during school holiday. You have a choice of different signposted walking routes at each center, too. On the Sallandse Heuvelrug you'll find three information centers :

  • Buitencentrum Sallandse Heuvelrug (Staatsbosbeheer) and Observatory Hellendoorn
  • Nature museum Holterberg
  • Erve De Pas (Natuurmonumenten)

Hiking tips in the area

Tip 1: Walking the dog

At the Hellendoornse Berg you'll find a release area. Perfect idea when you want to walk your dog! Your four-legged friend can run, romp and play with other animal friends there.
 

Tip 2: Walking long distances

Do you like to walk long distances? Then take a look at the Pieterpad. Hof van Salland and Restaurant De Hazelaer which are located directly on this route.
 

Tip 3: Walking with the children

From Buitencentrum Sallandse Heuvelrug you can walk with the kids on the fun Kabouterpad. Playing, walking and culture? Then visit the Holterberg and combine a hiking route with the playground of Daantje Das and Natuurmuseum De Holterberg!
 

Tip 4: Walk from the park

From Hof van Salland you can walk the Rondje Boksloot, a route of approximately 5 km. This route leads you along the Boksloot and vast meadows.
 

Tip 5: Special walking packages

Would you like to walk, but you don't like to go out on your own? Then choose a walking package. You'll discover the beautiful surroundings under the guidance of an expert guide. Of course, you can specify your wishes for a special area, as well as the length or the duration.
 

Tip 6: Walking trail through Velderberg and Hancate

This route is 7.5 km long. While on this route, you will walk through the Velderberg along the Regge River and enjoy a stunning view of the meandering river and the meadows. You can admire a large number of plants and flowers and the rich diversity of animals during this walk.
